Graduate Student
(PSN, Carnegie-Mellon University)
Luz Stephanie Andrino
Luz is in a PhD program in Systems Neuroscience at CMU. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Cal State, Northridge, followed by the National Institutes of Health Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (NIH-PREP) at Purdue University working in a systems neuroscience & neuroengineering lab. She has an interest in translational auditory neuroscience and is a dog turned cat lover!

Graduate Student
CNUP, Pitt (MD/PhD)
Megan Arnold
Megan is an MD/PhD student in the CNUP at Pitt. She did her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Allegheny College and postbac at Pitt, studying excitatory projection neurons in the auditory cortex. For her graduate research, she is interested in how neural plasticity following hearing loss can inform treatment strategies. Passionate about disability inclusion in science and medicine, she serves as Outreach Director for Project Short. Outside the lab, she enjoys gardening, reading and writing creative nonfiction, yoga, and climbing.

Graduate Student (Audiology)
Chloe Danley
Chloe Danley is a second-year Doctor of Audiology student at the University of Pittsburgh. She received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in psychology from Grand Valley State University. Chloe is an R25 TRANSLATES Scholar with a passion for evidence-based clinical care and translational research in audiology. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, exploring local coffee shops and parks around Pittsburgh, and spending time with her cat, Nellie.

Graduate Student (Audiology)
Madeline Gillis
Maddie received her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with minors in Biology and Speech and Hearing Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis. She is currently in her second year pursuing her Doctorate of Audiology at the University of Pittsburgh. She is interested in pediatric audiology and plans on continuing to do research in a clinical setting once she graduates. Outside of her studies, Maddie enjoys reading, running, and spending time with her friends and family (animals included)!

Research Technician
Jennifer (Jen) Klara
Jen joined as a research technician in the lab after completing her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh. Her future goals include medical or graduate school. She aspires to make discoveries that will make a difference in somebody’s life. When not in class, she can usually be found playing various video games, shopping, or reading books about death. If that doesn’t make you too uneasy, she’ll happily give you her gaming information to play sometime.

Principal Investigator

Aravind_Partha (at) pitt (dot) edu
Aravind tries to do stuff as well.

Undergrad, BioE
Audrey Transue
Audrey is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Bioengineering with a concentration in cellular engineering and a minor in Chemistry. Beyond academics, she enjoys staying active—whether she's running, skiing, or cheering on Philadelphia sports teams (especially during their Super Bowl victories).

Graduate Student (Audiology)
Amanda Yagan
My name is Amanda Yagan. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from the University of Connecticut. I am interested in the intersection of Neuroscience and Audiology and would love to tie both in my future work as an Audiologist. Outside of class and the research lab, I am an avid novel reader. I love going on hikes, cooking and participating in community engagement activities.

Post-Bacc, CSD
Joy Zhang
Joy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in studio arts from the University of Pittsburgh. During that time, she was introduced to the field of audiology and its impact on people’s quality of life. She is currently enrolled in Pitt’s post-baccalaureate CSD program and plans on pursuing a doctorate in Audiology in the future. In the meantime, she doodles, reads, and experiments with fire (cooking).

Graduate Student (Communication Science and Disorders)
Maggie Zink
Maggie is excited to expound upon her work with listening effort and related fatigue, hearing loss, and cognitive aging under the guidance of Drs. Parthasarathy and Chandrasekaran. On a larger scale, she hopes to do her part to help better understand the relationship between perceptual and cognitive decline. Maggie graduated from Saint Louis University in 2014 with degrees in Neuroscience and Music: Operatic Vocal Performance. Her passions include pub trivia, Thai takeout, concert photography, and idolizing Food Network stars (despite having no cooking abilities).
